The 2022 Ram 1500 brings back the multifunction tailgate. The tailgate has a 60/40 split swing-away door that opens 88° and fold down like a regular tailgate. The split-swing away doors make it easier to load the bed without having the tailgate door in the way. In addition, there is the Class-Exclusive RamBox® Cargo Management System. These are storage bins on each side of bed that provide weatherproof and lockable storage areas.

The 2020 Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds and haul up to 2,300 pounds. There are four available engines: the 5.7 Liter HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque, 5.7L HEMI® V8, 3.6L PENTASTAR® V6 engine with eTorque, and the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine. The 5.7L HEMI® engines achieve up to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6L PENTASTAR® gets 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0L EcoDiesel achieves 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque.
Starting from the build, the Ram 1500 is made with high-strength steel for a stronger frame. The Ram 1500 comes with six driver assistance technology features to help prevent collisions. These features are Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection, Lane Departure Warning-Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Forward Collision Warning, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, and 360° Surround View Camera.
There are several available features for the Ram 1500. The available features depend on which of the six available trim options you choose. These trims are the Ram 1500 Limited, Laramie Longhorn®, Rebel®, Laramie®, Big Horn® and Tradesman®. Every trim has the option to choose either 4x2 or 4x4 powertrain.
