The 2019 Ram 1500 offers a total of three engine options across its six-trim lineup. The 2019 Ram 1500’s standard engine, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque offers best-in-class standard V6 strength with 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. The base-level engine also offers impressive hauling capabilities with a max tow capacity of 7,730 lbs.
The “eTorque” part of the title means the engine gets paired with the 1500’s new and class-exclusive TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. With this transmission, the traditional alternator is replaced with a 48-volt battery-powered motor generator. This advanced system has been proven to improve performance, efficiency, payload, towing capabilities and drivability.
The next 1500 engine option is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8. The V8 offers more strength all around, providing up to 395 horsepower, 410 lb.-ft. of torque and 11,610 lbs. max towing.
Lastly, 1500 drivers have the option to take that V8 with a boost in muscle with the available 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with eTorque. The upgraded engine keeps the same 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque but achieves an increase in max towing. Offering a capacity of 12,750 lbs., this engine brings in the title for best-in-class V8 towing.
